Before today's finals, both German boats are in a medal position ahead of Weymouth. Decision will be made by 14.00 hrs

The best thing that could happen to the two German teams today would be a cancellation of the races due to too little wind. That could even happen, as the forecast predicts light winds.

Heiko Kröger in the 2.4mR and Jens Kroker, Robert Prem and Siegmund Mainka in the Sonar are in second place before the final race. Unlike at the Olympic Games, this will not be sailed as a medal race, but with all participants scoring points.

Gold is no longer within reach for Jens Kroker, and both are only theoretically possible. Dutchman Udo Hessels and his crew have already secured this medal with a 20-point lead out of 14 starters. However, Norway's Aleksander Wang-Hansen is only two points behind him, tied on points with fourth place. So there is still precious metal to be won.

It's not quite so close for Heiko Kröger. Although he can only theoretically still win gold, the British rider Helena Lucas leads with nine points out of 16 starters, and the third-placed rider is only two points behind, Kröger has created a cushion of nine points over fourth place.

Scheduled start is 11.00 am
